31 Days of Orvieto: Day #1
August 1, 2015 by orvietoorbust

As some of you may know, during the entire month of July, I created a Facebook Project called, “31 Days of Orvieto”. About half-way through the month, however, I suddenly realized that many of Orvieto or Bust’s followers aren’t on Facebook (or haven’t ‘friended’ me YET – hint, hint). In order to rectify the situation, I’ve decided to repeat the project here during the month of August. If you’ve already seen the posts on Facebook, I want to apoligize in advance for the duplication. For those who are seeing “31 Days” for the first time, I hope you’ll enjoy them at least half as much as I’ve enjoyed creating them!
And here we go again…
It’s DAY 1 of “31 Days of Orvieto”! I have a theory that if people knew about Orvieto and it’s splendors, they would certainly come to visit us. Tourism is down in our little town, so I’ve decided to start a campaign to spread the word about Orvieto’s greatness. You know me – I’m all about promoting my adopted home – so every day in the month of August, I will post an article, a photo, a story, a tid-bit about this wonderful place. If you love Orvieto and/or would like to support my efforts, please take a moment to read, and if you are so inclined, share the posts and, in doing so, help me create an “Orvieto buzz”. Go, Orvieto, Go!!!!

Thanks for repeating the series here. I avoid Facebook at all cost!!
Hahah, Barbara! Good for you! t
WHAT??!! I LoOVe the idea. I went to Europe/Italy for the first time last year and when I finished crying (leaving Italy is heartbreaking) I started planning my next trip. I don’t know when it will be, but Orvieto is included in the itinerary.
I’m following you here and there.

Line! I know just how you feel, which is why I packed up my life and brought it to Orvieto. I’m so happy to hear that I had some small part in your decision to come and visit us! When you’ve got your itnerary set, let me know and we can meet for long, drawn-out coffee! hugs. t
Thank you! Wether it is in 6 months or 6 years, I’ll sure contact you and have a coffee or a glass of orvieto with you!! Hugs. Line
I just went on FB and looking at the 31 postings all at once would be too overwhelming for a soul like mine that is so sensitive to beauty! Btw, it’s a small world, because when I was in Venice, I met the lady from Beehive (Linda?) on a cicheti tour and then at the Taverna Al Remer. I had forgoten she is from Orvieto. She initiated my desire to visit Orvieto one day…
Ha! That’s amazing. Linda, Steve and her family are my very close friends. Funny enough, we first met through my blog (she was googling “Orvieto” because they were planning on moving here after their sabbatical in Bali). We met and the rest is history – they have become like family to me. I will tell her you said hi. Yes, the world is small, small, small….
Grazie Toni, Sono vecchio e non use Facebook, Io e mia moglie love Orvieto. A piedi la Rupe è meraviglioso. I look forward to you emails. Thank you for your posts.
Grazie Dale. Non sei vechhio, ma una persona che ha più tempo nella tua giornata di noi! Thank you so much for your support. ci vediamo ad Orvieto? hugs. toni
Glad to see you back . Have missed your postings and I love Orvieto!
Hi Elena. Thank you so much for saying that! I have been super busy with a work project and haven’t had much time for posting, but last month I had the “31 days” idea during a morning shower (where I get my best ideas). It’s a great way to salute Orvieto in small, manageable bites. See you tomorrow…and the next day, and the next day… hugs. toni
I loved Orvieto so much I blogged about it, and I’m happy to have stumbled upon your blog. (Filipina residing in Tokyo now, but in Shanghai at that time)
Hi Meg. We Orvieto lovers are quite a large group spanning the globe…how is life in Tokyo? Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy our month-long journey together. Hugs. toni
Come visit and I’ll take you around Tokyo.

Thank you for providing Orvieto or Bust via my email account. I am one of those few who has not embraced Facebook. Donna Thompson Aurora,Colorado
Hi Donna. I’m so glad I thought of putting this project on my blog…what a dope I am for not thinking of it sooner. Facebook can reach a lot of people, but in some ways it discourages intimate contact and communication. Thank you for reaching out on a personal level and letting me know you’ll be following the progress for the next month. hugs. toni
